The storm was not evil. It was not even a real threat. It was but a lesson, a test. The storm rose up so that God could teach the world about faith, love, power. It was a good thing!
How can that be? How can something so dangerous, be good? Because it served a purpose, and when that purpose was fulfilled, it stopped. The storm was but a tool in the mighty hands of God.
The storm in our lives are the same. They are allowed for a reason. Someone had something to learn. Someone is being called to grow, to mature, to become more like Jesus. The storm, believe it or not, is your friend!
Jesus could have stopped the storm at any time, but He waited until the disciples were frightened, Peter walked on water, Peter started to sink, Jesus saved him, and they walked back to the boat. Then, and only then, He calmed the storm.
Instead of cursing the storms in life, look for the lesson. Ask God to reveal His plan. Ask what you or someone else can learn from the experience. Ask Him to strengthen your faith. Allow God to use that storm for good.
It’s when you no longer fear it, no longer let it hold you back, that the storms are calmed.
